J'Adore!

Wow, Mont Saint Michel is AMAZING! I was having serious doubts about carrying on to do this leg of the journey or just packing it in and going straight to Holland, but I'm really glad we came!

We are staying at the cutest little house in the middle of nowhere. The "town" has around 5 houses and a pub and the nearest restaurant is a half an hour walk away. The night time is so quiet you can hear the bugs cough outside (Such a change from Rome!!!).

This morning it was dark and a little rainy - it was fantastic!!! After the heat of Paris, this was such a welcome break! We were dropped off at Mont St Michel by the owner of the hostel we're staying at and we got in before any of the crowds. We got up there and had a look around, and got an audioguide, which was probably the best idea we had all day. The architecture is really amazing, and the audioguide takes you through the building room by room explaining how they were built and what they were used for. I was quite lucky as well, being an EU citizen I got in for free! (25 years and under).

After we walked around we got outside the monastery and all of a sudden the whole place was packed full of people!! The streets were crowded and there were people pushing all over the place! So we decided that we'd seen pretty much the whole place anyway, and walked the 2kms into "town" for lunch. We had HOURS until our pickup so we had to kill time..... by doing a whole bunch of nothing. So getting inventive there was a whole lot of card playing, hangman playing, and drawing done, and about mid afternoon the skies cleared up and we got some nice views of the mount.

tomorrow we're heading to Holland! So excited!

til later!
